TEHRAN -- The revenues projected for the national budget for Iranian calendar year 1381 (March 2002-March 2003), have been met in the past four months, proving the government's success in realizing its fiscal and monetary policies, according to Hossein Azimi, an economist and university professor.

He added that despite tax cuts, the rise in government's revenue has been encouraging.

He said that the recent changes in taxation laws, including reduction of rates for industrial concerns, as well as the establishment of a single exchange rate, have contributed to the increase in revenues.

While expressing hope that this trend continues, he said that reduction of taxes should stimulate higher production levels and lead to a rise in industry's index.
